The Higgs Centre for Innovation
Bridging the gap between pioneering science and business
The Science and Technology Facilities Council and the University of Edinburgh have long and proven histories of not only developing revolutionary science and technology but also commercialising it and creating viable businesses. This extensive knowledge and expertise is available to ambitious businesses in Scotland at the prestigious Royal Observatory Edinburgh.

The Higgs Centre for Innovation brings together world-class research in astronomy (located alongside STFC's UK Astronomy Technology Centre), particle physics and the instrumentation expertise that underpins it, with business incubation facilities and laboratories suitable for commercial use.
Business Incubation Centres have gained much traction amongst start-ups and investors, and are recognised for the dedicated support they offer to early stage companies with an ambition to grow.
Whether it be access to physical space or a network of entrepreneurs, advisors and partners a Business Incubation centre offers a start-up all the tools it will need.
In order to ensure that the research carried out by the University of Edinburgh and STFC is exploited to the full and has a real commercial and societal impact, we actively encourage collaborative working with SMEs and large corporates.

Scientists, engineers and students interact to improve our understanding of the universe and through engaging with companies, we are able to drive technological advancements forward.
The Higgs Centre for Innovation provides SMEs access to the expertise and facilities of the UK ATC and the University of Edinburgh in the areas of remote sensing instrumentation, space technology and data intensive science.
The Centre's dedicated facilities and this technical expertise are available to businesses wherever they are based.
